What is abstract painting?

Abstract art or abstractionism is a modern artistic style in which objects or people are represented, paintings or sculptures, through unrecognizable forms. The traditional format (landscapes and realism) is left out in abstract art. In abstract art, color and form are most expressive.

Sensitive or Informal Abstractionism

Sensitive or informal abstractionism, feelings and emotions predominate. In Germany comes the movement called “Der blaue Reiter” (The Blue Knight) whose founders are the Kandinsky, Franz Marc among others. These artists delve into chromatic research, they want an abstract expressionism.

Abstract Expressionism

Abstract expressionism was an artistic movement originating in the United States, whose peak was reached in the decades after the Second World War. It was the first specifically American movement to achieve worldwide influence, placing New York at the center of the artistic world (a position previously exercised by Paris, France). The artist takes an internal journey and is free to express his feelings that come from his soul, without thinking about the outside world.

Main Artists:

Franz Marc (1880-1916), German painter, passionate about the art of primitive people, children and the mentally ill, the German painter Marc chose animal studies as his favorite themes, met Kandinsky, under his influence, became convinced of that the essence of beings is revealed in abstraction. The admiration for Italian futurists gave a new dynamic to Marc’s work, which started to use shapes and masses of bright colors typical of Cubist painting.

Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944), Russian painter, before abstractionism participated in several artistic movements as impressionism also went through a short fauve and expressionist phase. He wrote books on the spiritual in art, in which he sought to point out symbolic correspondences between the inner impulses and the language of shapes and colors. Dozens of his works were confiscated by the Nazis and several of them were exhibited in the “Degenerate Art” exhibition.

Tachism (from tache = stain). Formed by colored spots placed side by side in a certain parameter or limit, at least the artist’s arm. There is also a type of informal abstract formed by spots, however, they have no parameter defined by the artist’s arm as in Tachismus. They are spots created impulsively with all the freedom or emotional effusion of the artist.

Within the abstract style, I was inspired by marble stone to create art with effects similar to stone. Using two or more colors I created an impacting effect with reference to the technique of marbled painting, which I do in my work on furniture and other surfaces, I had the idea of doing something similar but with more effects, with colors… I thought why not on canvas already that I love visual arts so much? .. and God gave me the gift and creativity of drawing, I am a self-taught visual artist (in addition to abstract painting, I make other styles: academic art, surrealist art, pop art).
